Woyms WIP

Well I have been working on a worm sculpt for a couple of weeks and though I'd bob an update on here.

The worm is shaping up nicely, positions are set well for the eyes and mouth and it's now ready to be improved. The mouth seemed too square and the worm seemed to be smiling rather than showing aggression so it is something I needed to address. Rounding of the sides of the mouth and building in a furrowed brow would help this.

Now it is nearly ready to have the surrounding built in and I can look at removing any blemishes and loose bits of clay...

I'll update this as more is added.

Popped

So, I have been warmly steered (threatened) into contributing to this blog.  I've not "blogged" before so please forgive my ramblings as my blogging cherry is popped.

Ok, first off i'll begin with my current project, which is an Eve Hypo prop. This is an oversized hypodermic needle which can be seen in the excellent game Bioshock. Still in its early 0.1 stages, I've been experimenting with olive oil bottles and sculpy modelling clay, and hair gel...

Learning from this, i'm intending to use completely different materials for my 0.2 attempt :), as well as eventually implementing a small LED lighting system for when the eve is activated!

In the long run I would love to make a real life bioshock film "trailer".  Being an ex film student, these ideas are something that i'm looking forward to putting into practice!

As well as making this prop from being inspired by others work, i'm also working on my own pixel artwork for a game being destined for xbox community.  Seeing as this is for game related tat I deem this a suitable place to exhibit! I'll be posting some of the characters on here once the game is finished.

stay tuned...

Sprogs Workbench

O.k. It seems like I'm the first second poster. Prepare to be AMAZED by the light show that is my prose. Truly, if Shakespeare were here now he would quiver in his boots as I surpassed his best works with this, my first post - 'Sprogs Workbench' - I cannot believe Myk nicked my whole intro and tried to play it off as his own, what a con artist.

So far in my experimentations with Sculpey etc I have created 1 complete model - albeit a bit rushed, and 1 nearly complete model - albeit I want to finish it but I keep finding other projects to start and finally, 1 unpainted piece which was my first ever sculpt.

People who want a summary of what I have been doing without reading the rest of the bollocks would probably settle for this: I like valve's projects... a lot.

So there we have it. The morale of the story is, stick with a project, don't be a complete Myk. Oh, you wanted to see some action? Well blooooody 'ell.

Pyro

The pyro is the first of my TF2 characters. Blatent rip off in style to the one the bloke made into a candle holder - Quasimodox was his name.

I think the project was a bit too ambitious without having any past experience in sculpting and modelling. I would say that having to neccessary tools for modelling would have made the whole project a lot easier and quite possibly make the final product look a lot better.

The armature for the character was a bit crap, it wasn't bulked out enough nor sturdy enough.

Sniper

The sniper from TF2 is my second character project and it has taken a while to get around to complete.

The main section of the model was knocked up in about a day and since then, I have been pretty much faffing about with it, making small changes here and there. Debating how to model the hands and gun and generally avoiding modelling the hands and gun.

I think I'll knock up some sort of project progression post once it is complete. Don't expect it soon then :D

On the horizon for me:

  1. Worms Chess set
  2. I want to attempt a larger bust - yes, I do favour a larger bust.
  3. Worms action shot
  4. TF2 Heavy (& possibly medic)

What I need to do now:

Paint Lamarr and post him on here!

Myks Workbench

O.k. It seems like I'm the first poster. Prepare to be AMAZED by the light show that is my prose. Truly, if Shakespeare were here now he would quiver in his boots as I surpassed his best works with this, my first post - 'Myk's Workbench'.

In summation, this may sound like the waffly old bollocks of a senile delinquent, but bear with me. The following things are random bits of gaming tat I am working on at the moment.

Metal Gear Rex
Here's an old WIP photo of a scratchbuilt Metal Gear Rex I started last year.

"*METAL GEAR?!!!*" I hear you exclaim in gruff tones. Worry not, brave haberdasher, as this one is only little.
Its come on a lot since this was taken, but balancing it all together for an update is a bit of a chore and I also don't have the room to set it up at the moment.

Worms sculptures

This is an early photo of a worm sculpture based on an image from Worms3D. This one has been completed recently and is now off being painted by a Aten. Coincidentally, I played a game of Worms Mayhem at about the same time as I finished this and promptly had my ass handed to me by what I can only assume was a Russian nine year old.

...this concrete donkey is also ready for painting.

Perler
bead shrooms

I made some Mario 1up shrooms out of perler beads, but it kind of when wrong (melty/gooey) so you're going to have to wait for my second attempt on those.

Someday.....

tf2 scout sculpt

worms chess set (with sprog)
worms mobile (with sprog)
chrono trigger perler bead sprites
